Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom appeals to lecturers of college of education to suspend strike action

Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel has appealed to the lecturers of the college of education, Afaha Nsit, Nsit Ibom local government area to suspend the ongoing strike action and resume educational activities on Monday October 2, this year.

Speaking when he commissioned the 0.6 kilometers access road in the school, the governor assured the teaching staff of government’s readiness to address their grievances upon resumption from their industrial action.

While announcing that he had also approved the construction of a 2.2 kilometers internal roads in the institution, the Governor reiterated his commitment to the welfare of the people.

Also speaking after inspecting the 500 tons per day Flour Mill at Mkpok/Ukat in Onna Local Government and the St. Gabriel Coconut Oil Refinery at Ikot Akpan Okobo, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Governor Emmanuel announced that the coconut refinery which has the capacity to produce over 1 million metric tonnes of coconut per day, will create employment for over 1,000 people.

Government House correspondent Jane Uwa reports that earlier in their goodwill messages, the former military Governor of the state, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga and the Provost of the college of education,Professor Matthew Ekpo had commended the Governor for his commitment to the infrastructural and educational advancement of the state and assured Governor Emmanuel that the love will be reciprocated in due time.
