Independent National Electoral Commission – INEC Akwa Ibom state says it has received new sets of Permanent Voter Cards – PVCs for those who registered between January and March 2018 in the state, calling on affected persons to go to their centres of registration and collect their cards.
Speaking with Planet News, INEC Head of Voter Education, Anthony Patta, said it was pertinent that eligible voters come up to collect their cards in preparation for the 2019 elections.
Patta also noted that the commission is still distributing the old stock of cards from April till December 2017, while reiterating the commission’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible voter is disenfranchised.
Our correspondent Saviour Robert reports that the INEC head of Voter Education insisted that the commission will ensure that votes of citizens count, thus inviting eligible voters to plan to come out en masse to vote their choice candidates come 2019 elections.
