NLC says it will no longer enter into any negotiation with the government on minimum wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress – NLC has said it will no longer enter into any negotiation with the government on a minimum wage for workers.

The General Secretary of the NLC, Peter Ozo-Eson, who disclosed this during an interview, said the NLC, which is one of the umbrella bodies for workers, will commence its planned nationwide strike tomorrow Tuesday.

In a related development, the Academic Staff Union of Universities -ASUU has also asked its members nationwide to begin an indefinite strike.

The disclosure followed a meeting leaders of the union held at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State. According to ASUU National President Professor Abiodun Ogunyemi, the union took the decision due to poor funding of universities.
