Organizers of Ake Nnyin Poetry Festival have solicited support from government, private organisations and well-meaning Nigerians for the advancement of poetry in the Niger Delta region as a tool for positive change in the country.
Speaking with Planet News during a 2-day 2018 Ake Nnyin festival held at Ibom Hotels and Gulf Resort, Uyo, the Resident Poet of Portharcourt Literary Society, Amu Nnadi, said the event was put together to reconnect people with nature and the beauty that resides in poetic expressions and use them in correcting notions held in the country about the Niger Delta region.
Speaking further, he however lamented the inadequate support and enumerated the benefits in encouraging intellectual artists in any country.
On their part, some of the performers and participants at the two day festival who interacted with our correspondent Saviour Robert explained the significance of the Ake Nnyin festival and commended the organizers for the festival of arts.
The event, organized by the Port Harcourt Literary Society in partnership with Ibom Hotels and Gulf Resort, originally designed for the Niger Delta, turned out to be an amalgamation of Nigerians who came from all parts to celebrate the beauties in nature and arts.
