Vietnam’s President Tran Dai Quang has died after an alleged prolonged and serious illness.

Reports say the 61 year old president passed away from a “serious illness” despite devoted treatment by professors and doctors.

Quang who was in office as president since April 2016 after more than four decades at the Ministry of Public Security, had a reputation as a tough leader with little tolerance for dissent.
